オープニングトークの流れから、この日の話題は
the president electionに。

アメリカの大統領選は国民的一大イベントのように見えますね。

The campaigning starts about 2 years before the actual election itself.
選挙運動は約2年もかけて行われます。


さて、参加者の皆さんが新大統領に望むことは？


I expect him to talk with North Korea.
I think the hope for something better is associated with the economy.
I hope that he puts an end to the war in Iraq and the war in Afghanistan asap.

asap＝as soon as possible
経済や外交のことなども出ましたが、平和な世界を、という願いは皆さん同じでした。
